3…2…1… Book Launch!

I’m a day late and a dollar short, as they say, but The Heart of Resistance officially launched yesterday and is now available wherever books are sold! We were privileged to be able to host a book launch event at our very own bookstore in Delaware, Ohio, which was so much fun. We got to answer some great questions from the audience, read a selection from the first chapter of the book (well, David did, and I kind of just stared at him awkwardly the whole time haha) and sign lots of books! I have included some photos from the launch below.

Us looking like the awkward nerds we are behind a big imposing table
Every picture taken during the reading makes me look like I’m glaring at David, but I promise I’m not 😅
A pretty good crowd! We had to pull in some extra chairs
David and I curated what David called a “physical mood board” for part of our display at the launch. On the left you can see the four albums that we chose to represent the book. We listened to all of these albums a lot while writing, and they became pretty engrained with our writing process and with the story. We also have a couple of the nautical books that we read for research when “designing” the airships. And in the center we have our pride and joy, the big map display with flags, all designed by us! Key locations in the book are numbered as well, and the numbers correspond to worldbuilding info on the board to the right. It’s basically a mini museum display crossed with something you’d make as a kid for the science fair. David and I had so much fun working on this in the month or two leading up to the launch.
A closeup with some of the flags. We cut the flag pieces from construction paper and some vinyl sticker material on a Cricut machine, then pasted them together and glued them onto little cocktail sticks to serve as flag poles. Please never try to cut construction paper on a Cricut… it’s kind of a nightmare!

If you’re local to Central Ohio and missed the book launch, we still have copies available in store if you want to come pick one up! Otherwise, you can get a copy wherever books are sold, or directly from our distributor for better availability (we’ve had some issues with the hardback being available on Amazon, so if you want one this is your best bet for the moment).

Paperback

Hardcover

This is an obligatory plug, but if you read the book and enjoy it, please consider leaving a review on Goodreads, Amazon, or wherever you review your books online, and sharing it with a friend who might enjoy it. Reviews and word-of-mouth are probably the biggest ways we find new readers as independent authors, and we want as many people to read this story as possible!

We hope you will enjoy this story as much as we enjoyed creating it. Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more updates about this and other upcoming projects!

🙂
