Migration

So here’s what’s happening: things are changing around here, and I’m excited about it, and I hope you will be too! Here’s the rundown:

  • This blog will become more of a landing/update page for me and my husband’s creative work (including, but not limited to, our upcoming novel The Heart of Resistance!) I will be slowly updating it to reflect our new work over the coming months. I will also be posting about our writing (including both our solo and joint projects) on this blog.
  • My personal blogging/essays/nonsense will be moving over to my Substack, The Unquantified Life. If you want to read my rambling essays and thoughts and whatever, that’s where I’ll be posting them from now on. Expect posts there to be infrequent and random 😅
  • For social media: I will be cross-posting writing updates and other nonsense via my personal Instagram and a new A. D. Griffey Instagram and Facebook. To clarify, A. D. Griffey is me and my husband’s collective pen name. If something is about HoR or other joint projects, it will go on both accounts. If it’s about writing, it will likely go on both. If it’s personal, it goes on my personal. The A. D. Griffey accounts are basically more for discoverability and for people who find our work through HoR; most of what will go on there will be automatically cross-posted from my personal account. If you are interested in me and my work specifically, the best place to find that on social media will be my personal Instagram.
  • Speaking of writing updates, we are set to reveal the HoR cover on September 2nd, the second anniversary my used bookstore. I will be posting that across social media, and here on this blog. The cover is amazing and I can’t wait for you all to see it! Our artist did a phenomenal job. Preorders for the book should be up and running by the end of September. We are planning to have an eBook edition, a paperback, a hardcover with dust jacket, and a special limited clothbound edition (hand bound by yours truly). If things go well, we would eventually like to do an audiobook, but that’s a bit down the road.

And… that’s about it for right now. I am trying to simplify my internet footprint so that I don’t spread myself too thin, and clarify what and where I will be posting.

As much as I dislike social media, it is a reality of the modern world, especially for creatives, and I do believe that it can be used well and intentionally. When I stopped writing around 2018, I also fell into a habit of consuming social media passively, instead of posting myself, or even commenting. I’m trying to change that. Social media can be a tool for connection, but so often it is used as endless entertainment and a way of avoiding real life relationships. I am as guilty of this as anyone. And I am trying to fix that without eschewing the use of social media entirely; unfortunately it really is one of the best free tools a writer has to get their name out there. That’s why I’m hoping to overhaul and beef up this website as well, because social media platforms are fickle, and I don’t want to be relying on them for all of my outreach.

Anyways, that’s probably enough rambling for now. I am looking forward to the continuation of this writerly journey, and I hope you will join me wherever you can, whether that’s through social media, Substack, this blog, or wherever.

See you next time! 🙂

[…] Previously, I wrote about my plans for revamping this website in light of my return to the indie author world alongside my husband David. Our debut novel, The Heart of Resistance, is coming out in just a couple of weeks (March 25th to be exact!) and as we draw closer to that date, I find myself rethinking and honing my vision for our online platform, especially as I start to send out the book to review websites and local papers.
